East Coast Corridor Details Will Be Known By Year-end - Awang Adek BACHOK, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Details of projects slated for implementation under the East Coast Development Corridor encompassing Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang are being studied by the Finance Ministry.

The details are expected to be known by year-end, said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

A team of ministry officials specially appointed to study the projects are working on the details, he told reporters after presenting cash aid to 356 poor students from 13 primary and four secondary schools in the Jelawat state constituency here yesterday.

He said the Pengkalan Kubur duty-free zone in Tumpat and Tok Bali in Pasir Puteh are among two districts in Kelantan which would directly benefit from the corridor project.

The Government proposed to turn Tok Bali into a modern deepsea fishing township in the country besides developing new tourism products to woo domestic and foreign tourists.

Earlier, in his speech, Dr Awang Adek said the Federal Government had approved a RM100,000 cash aid to 1,500 poor students in his Bachok parliamentary constituency for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

The aid would be handed out in stages, he added.
