The Ikan Patin Town

Temerloh is a small town in the centre of Pahang, Malaysia in a district of the same name.

Temerloh is 163 ft above sea level and has a latitude of 3 27 North and longitude of 102 26 East. It is situated at the point where Pahang River meets the Semantan River. It is also called Kuala Semantan, for this reason. Kuala is the Malay word for river confluence.

An old town with some colonial buildings and shophouses, the town has prospered in recent years as a transportation hub and new industrial center. The completion of an expressway linking the town to Kuala Lumpur added to the growth factor of Temerloh. It hopes to supersede Kuantan as the future capital of Pahang.

Temerloh has been rebranded as "Bandar Ikan Patin", which literally means "the ikan patin town". Patin, a type of freshwater fish is a local delicacy highly sought after in the country.
